We are very excited to inform you about the latest developments here at Podimo. As of April 21st Podimo users will be able to unlock exclusive content by upgrading to a Premium membership. Of course Podimo will continue to work like a free Podcatcher, meaning that the App, as well as the access to all publicly available Podcasts will remain free of charge for all users and no login will be required.

Now more than ever - A new ecosystem for podcasters

The past decade has seen podcasts developing into a totally new media channel and the future looks bright. However there is a severe lack of monetization alternatives for creators and very limited discoverability options for consumers. Podimo has been founded to drive change and deliver an outstanding podcast experience for both creators and consumers.

The start of the Premium membership is an integral milestone in our mission to build a new ecosystem for podcasters that rewards creators for making content that people want to hear. Our business model means that listeners are supporting their favourite podcasts every time they listen. We believe that creators are the backbone of the industry and we are on a mission to get them compensated for the value they create, help them build their audience and ultimately create a thriving ecosystem for podcasts.  

How the Premium membership works and why it matters for you as a creator

First and foremost it is important to remember that Podimo will remain a free Podcast Player with no strings attached - no required login and no costs. We are building a superior podcast experience for all users, making it easier for them to discover new content in a quickly growing world of Podcasts.

In addition to this, users will be able to upgrade to a Premium membership in order to unlock exclusive content that they won’t find anywhere else. This exclusive content library consists of our original productions, as well as of content that independent creators like yourself decide to offer exclusively on Podimo. 

The membership fee of a Premium member is shared with all the podcasts he/she is listening to, given that these Podcasters have claimed their show in our Podcaster Studio. Yes, you understood correctly! Even if your Podcast is not exclusively on Podimo you will still receive a revenue share everytime a Premium member listens to it. We are using a user centric payment system to distribute the premium membership fees. This means the more time a premium member spends listening to your podcast, the larger the revenue share that you will receive. 50+ exclusive & 1.500+ non-exclusive Podcasts already joined the ecosystem

We want to become the preferred partner for creators, by working closely with you and  your content to curate and match it with each individual user, and also by offering a superior monetisation model. We believe that all of the talented podcast creators out there deserve the option to be paid for their amazing content. 

We are determined to offer choice and options for audiences and podcasters alike, by offering a free and a premium experience that creates additional revenue flows for creators. Likewise, Creators have the choice to distribute a Podcast exclusively on Podimo or be available on all platforms and be part of the ecosystem either way. We want to be in an open dialogue with all the industry stakeholders and at the same time develop the consumer experience. We aim to be positive partners to everyone in the ecosystem!  

Podimo has a user-centric revenue share model that divides the money from each listener's subscription fee between the podcasters they have listened to that month. Creators get a part of the revenue, no matter how small or large the following. 

As we build a compelling experience, collaborate with content creators and find ways to drive growth to the industry, we will see payouts increase - these are still early days and we are dedicated to making a strong contribution to podcast listeners and creators.
