From graphic novel to podcast: 'The reddest rose unfolds' is now available to listen to exclusively on Podimo. Thus, the work of the famous Swedish writer and activist Liv Strömquist arrives on our platform, where it takes on a new dimension, delving into audio format, becoming the first graphic novel to transition to a podcast. The one responsible for adapting this fantastic novel has been the writer and screenwriter Bibiana Ricciardi, alongside ALT Autores and Sonda Media.

The writer and broadcaster has developed this new comic-essay in which she presents a theme as universal as love, based on the urban legend that Leonardo DiCaprio has had thirty-two girlfriends, all stunning models, and hasn't fallen in love with any of them. Hence, in this novel now turned into a podcast format, it aims to answer questions related to this very topic: Should we look for the reasons in consumer society and our tendency towards narcissism? Perhaps in the laws of biology? Or, simply, in the fact that DiCaprio is confused.

These themes are familiar to the author of the work since her texts primarily focus on sociopolitical issues from a feminist and leftist perspective, as well as satirical essays on power and injustices. All of this is accompanied by a sense of humor that is both subtle and effective, with quotes from historical thinkers such as Plato, Kierkegaard, Freud, Nietzsche, and even Byung-Chul Han or Eva Illouz.

There is also room for gossip magazines and academic studies in this novel-podcast, aspects that allow her to turn this narrative into a true and original philosophical collage to reflect on a question that we have all asked ourselves at some point: Why do we fall in love?

If you are intrigued by the title, 'The reddest rose unfolds,' it refers to a verse by the American feminist poet Hilde Doolittle who, both in her life and in her writings, advocated for liberated loves.

Enjoy the teaser and the first episode of the podcast 'The reddest rose unfolds' on Podimo now.
