Podimo, the first podcast and audiobook platform to offer audiovisual content within its app.
Jul 22, 2021
In its purpose of addressing a fundamental and recurring need of its listeners, the podcast and audiobook platform Podimo has announced the inclusion of video trailers within its app. In this way, the Danish company that landed in Spain just over a year ago becomes the first podcast and audiobook platform to add audiovisual content to each of its offerings.
Listeners will be able to view the videos from their devices, instead of having to read the descriptions of the programs, making the exploration and discovery of new content a more enriching and immersive experience, while allowing podcasters to connect with their audience in a completely new way.
"Thanks to this new functionality, Podimo has become the first podcast platform to include videos in its app to help users discover new content. In an increasingly visual world, videos play a more and more essential role in the decision-making process of consuming all types of digital content, including podcasts and audiobooks," states Javier Celaya, general director of Podimo for Spain and Latin America.
Thanks to the inclusion of videos within the content itself, both listeners and creators will obtain a better user experience with the app. On one hand, listeners will easily and simply view the main podcasts, as well as the most popular content and the creators who produce them, all by scrolling through a carousel of short videos. Likewise, creators will be closer to their audience, not only presenting their podcasts but also their world through behind-the-scenes images or previews of upcoming episodes.
Although the new video trailers occupy a prominent place in the redesign of the Podimo app, audio remains the foundation of its business model: "We love audio and it will always be the core of what we do," says Celaya. "Besides our compensation model for listening, we also want to empower our podcasters with another promotional tool. We understand that video can help reduce the distance with their audience and foster a deeper connection with their content."
In addition to the new trailers, the Podimo app will also include a "Home" tab, where listeners can find episodes they have already started, new episodes from the shows they follow, and personalized daily recommendations. This new update of the Podimo app is already available through the App Store and Google Play Store.
Founded in 2019, Podimo is a streaming platform for audio content (podcasts, audiobooks, audio series, audio shorts, etc.) of Danish origin that arises from the vision of 5 entrepreneurs, Morten Strunge, Nikolaj Koppel, Sverre Dueholm, Andreas Sachse, and Eva Lægdsgaard, to offer podcast creators a unique ecosystem where they have a fair and equitable revenue sharing model, and a transparency that until now was not common in the sector.
Currently, it operates in Denmark, Germany, Spain, and 20 countries in Latin America. Podimo has more than 80 employees spread across Copenhagen, Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, Mexico City, London, Amsterdam, and Vilnius.
