Podimo opens a payment channel on Apple Podcasts Subscriptions

Jun 15, 2021

After releasing more than 30 original podcasts in collaboration with leading producers across Latin America through its own app, Podimo has decided to create a paid subscription channel on Apple Podcasts Subscriptions to offer all its Latin podcasts in over 170 countries around the world, including the United States. We share the excitement of this announcement with all the Latin podcasters who have bet on creating quality audio with us as we will increase their audience.

In this way, creators like Eduardo Sacheri, writer of El secreto de sus ojos, Daniel 3Palacios, the most followed podcaster in Latin America, or journalist Sissi Cancino, will have their content available worldwide for the first time, thanks to the payment of a premium subscription through Apple Podcasts Subscriptions.

To enjoy it, listeners from the United States and other parts of the world where Podimo is not yet available can subscribe to the Podimo Latino channel, where for a fee of $3.99 USD per month they will be able to listen to all our Latin American shows. Those who take advantage of this opportunity will see the channel Podimo Latino advertised alongside producers of the caliber of PRX, NPR, Sony Music Entertainment, and many more. Additionally, they will be able to listen to Podimo content on desktop computers. Meanwhile, the Podimo app in Spanish will continue to be available in 20 countries in Latin America, as well as in Denmark, Germany, Spain, and Norway. There, in addition to the original podcasts, one can also enjoy thousands of audiobooks with no listening limit.

Those who subscribe to Podimo support their favorite podcasts just by hitting play, as their monthly subscription is distributed among the shows they listen to: 50% of net income with creators who offer their shows exclusively on Podimo and 20% with creators who have their content available on our platform.

Since its arrival in the Spanish market in June 2020, Podimo has already invested more than one million euros in financing nearly 140 original shows in Spanish, more than 30 of them with a Latin accent.

All Podimo podcasts with a Spanish accent, including the recent premiere of Sintonías Infrecuentes with former president Felipe González, will remain only on Podimo and will not be available on Apple Podcasts or any other platform. In fact, paying Podimo users will have access to more than 100 original programs in Spanish, representing a catalog of 1,000 exclusive podcast episodes that cannot be listened to anywhere else, as well as 1,500 audiobooks in Spanish.
