‘Mimicidios’ is a true crime podcast narrated by Mimi XXL in which every week she tells about the most disturbing crimes of recent decades in a casual and close way, offering a detailed analysis. Throughout each episode, you will hear the chilling stories of the most shocking cases of recent times as if you were chatting with a friend.

Due to the reality and closeness provided by the content of the podcast, many listeners have been shocked throughout the episodes. Mimi shares some words that her followers have said about it and quotes: “It has left you feeling very bad, some have ended up crying.”

With the second season just around the corner, we review the most outstanding episodes of the first season in which cases such as the murder of Sylvia Likens, the Almansa crime in Albacete, or the case of Suzanne Degnan have been explored.

We take a look back at a first season that starts with this message from Mimi XXL: “In this podcast, there will be no creaking doors, no terrifying music in the background and there is no one telling you about it in a paranormal host voice. In this podcast, it’s me, Mimi.”

The first topic she covered in the podcast was the story of Suzanne Degnan, a six-year-old girl from Chicago. It took place after World War II, the 1929 crisis, and Prohibition, and it is said that the discovery of the dismembered body of the little girl in several sewers caused the population to become fearful and, therefore, Chicago closed its doors.

One of the most consumed episodes was about the Sylvia Likens case. The words Mimi uses to describe this case are: “It is such a cruel, so unjustified and so abominable case that it doesn’t matter if it’s from the United States or any other country, I think it transcends those barriers of being the typical crime caused by having access to weapons. What was done to Sylvia Likens crosses all moral and human boundaries.” In this case, the silence of neighbors, social services, and family members allowed a group of adults, teenagers, and children to carry out one of the most cruel torture cases committed in the United States.

One of the last cases she covered in the first season was that of Kaylee Anthony, one of the few crimes that have awakened the collective hatred of the United States towards a single person, Casey, the mother of the small child who was murdered and abandoned in the woods. This case took place in the 2000s, and Mimi recounts that she experienced it in real-time as she was part of a forum in the United States where many of the people involved were from Florida, where the crime was committed. “They were the perfect example of the intensity with which the people of the United States lived this case. Not because of how raw or bloody it might be, but because of everything that happened around it,” adds Mimi.

Throughout the season, she also addresses closer cases like the Almansa crime that made Albacete's fame in the 90s shift from knives and blades to witches, orgies, and human sacrifices. This case stars Rosita Fernandez Gonzalez, murdered by her mother thinking she was possessed.

Other cases you can find in the first season of ‘Mimicidios’ include the disappearance of Shannan Watts and her two daughters, the murder of nanny Sandra Rivett in the United Kingdom, the case of Julieta Marion Hulme in the 50s, or the crime of Junko Furuta.

Apart from the success with ‘Mimicidios’, Mimi has another podcast called ‘Te hago unfollow’, in which she gives you the tools to stop following someone with a dose of sarcasm, humor, and assertiveness in equal parts to achieve it. Additionally, the protagonist has guest-starred on other Podimo podcasts such as ‘Rajar x Rajar’, ‘Menudo Cuadro’, ‘Querido Hater’, or ‘Todo me pasa a mi'.
