This is how we technically manage podcasts at Podimo
Sep 24, 2020
Since our arrival in Spain last June, at Podimo we have demonstrated our commitment to podcasting and its main actors: the podcasters. Therefore, we have consistently offered a clear and transparent explanation of how our platform works and our innovative business model.
In this post, we will seek to answer some questions related to technical aspects.
Podimo works with an open podcast standard. You do not lose control of your podcast or its distribution. We analyze/manage your RSS and store that data and images on our servers to ensure users can access your podcast quickly and easily from the Podimo App or Web Player.
We also index data so users can find your podcast when they search for it and so we can recommend it. However, we do not interfere with your data or modify it in any way. We only optimize the images to improve the mobile browsing experience. Plays and downloads occur directly from each user's device and do not interfere in any way with your statistics. Additionally, we add an HTTP header - User-Agent extra so your host can see that plays are made from the Podimo app. Examples:
iOS - Podimo/${APP_VERSION} build {APP_BUILD_NUMBER}/iOS ${IOS_VERSION}
Android - Podimo/${VERSION_NAME} build ${VERSION_CODE}/Android ${SDK_INT}
How to be present in the Podimo app?
If you want to appear exclusively on Podimo, you can use the Podimo Podcaster Studio to create an account from which you can create exclusive episodes only for Podimo.
Podimo also syncs podcasts with Apple Podcasts. If you register a new podcast in the Apple Podcasts directory, it will usually appear in 2 to 3 days on Podimo.
If you want to remove your podcast from Podimo, you can use the following link Podimo Podcaster Studio and click at the bottom on Request removal here.
How do we update your feed?
Podimo uses server-side crawling, which means we periodically check your RSS feed every so often and send that information to listeners from our servers (taking into account that downloads and plays are still made individually for each listener from your servers). Additionally, we add an HTTP header - User-Agent extra so your host can identify the Podimo crawler.
Remember to authorize Podimo Crawler User Agent so it is not blocked. Note that 1.0 shows the version and that may change in the future:
