Podimo and El Cañonazo join forces to produce great stories in podcast format

Since our arrival in Spain and Latin America four months ago, one of our main objectives has been to create great audio stories in Spanish, as well as to explore new ways of telling stories through audio narratives. Now, thanks to the agreement we have reached with El Cañonazo Transmedia, we have solidified our intention to bet on a consumption model that captures new audiences through sound.
As a result of this agreement, both from Podimo and El Cañonazo, we have initially committed to producing three major original series that will be available on our platform in the coming months. Two of these contents narrate exciting stories that will draw many people into unknown worlds, while the other series would fall into the category of major investigative journalism report that will spark a lot of discussion in Spanish society.
Our joint objective is to grow the podcast category by capturing new audiences who have not yet listened to podcasts and audiobooks, introducing listeners to new ways to entertain themselves or catch up. “This agreement is born from the commitment of both companies to create stories of the highest narrative quality with new state-of-the-art sound experiences,” declares Javier Celaya, responsible for Podimo in Spain and Latin America.
There are thousands of genres, sound fictions, factuals, and investigative stories that allow generating connected and intrinsic emotions in the viewer. That’s why El Cañonazo has already initiated the creation of content with innovative new formats to reach the most current audience through different genres. “At El Cañonazo Transmedia, we constantly seek to diversify our offerings in the production of non-fiction, fiction, and branded content television formats to explore other categories and new ways to connect with audiences,” says Roger Casas-Alatriste, CEO of El Cañonazo Transmedia.
Major bets
This agreement reinforces our strategy of major productions, continuing series already launched during these four months such as "Silencio en Bhopal", a docufiction that narrates the disaster that occurred in the Indian city of Bhopal on the night of December 2 to 3, 1984; "Historias secretas", the latest creation of journalist and communicator Iker Jiménez; or Psycholand, the flagship true crime podcast of this season.
