Three of the most prestigious podcast producers in Latin America: “Anfibia” from Argentina; “Así como Suena” from Mexico; and “La No Ficción” from Colombia, are the first to sign a production agreement with Podimo to explore new sound narratives that engage new audiences across the Latin American region through podcasts and audiobooks. Our app is already available in 20 countries in Latin America, as well as in Spain, offering more than 50,000 podcasts and audiobooks in Spanish. The listening of podcasts and audiobooks has become a global phenomenon, already being a format listened to by nearly 1 billion people worldwide. Spanish is one of the languages with the highest growth rate in podcast and audiobook listening globally.
As a result of these agreements, the three mentioned companies have committed to producing this year six major shows of original fiction and non-fiction podcasts that will be available soon on our platform. Through these strategic agreements, Podimo's goal is to grow the category of podcasts and audiobooks in Latin America by attracting new listeners who have not yet discovered the suitability of these formats for entertainment, learning skills or catching up. “In the world of podcasts, great Anglo-Saxon productions like “Serial” or “Winds of Change” are often cited as examples, which are magnificent, but we firmly believe that in the Spanish-speaking world we have the same talent. These agreements are born with the commitment of all parties to create great stories of high narrative quality in Spanish, incorporating the latest sound innovations to provide listeners with an unbeatable sound experience,” says Javier Celaya, General Director of Podimo in Latin America and Spain. These agreements in Latin America reinforce Podimo's strategy of major productions in Spain, continuing the production of great series launched in the last four months such as Silencio en Bhopal, a docufiction that narrates the disaster that occurred in the Indian city of Bhopal on the night of December 2 to 3, 1984; Historias secretas, the latest creation of journalist and communicator Iker Jiménez; or Psycholand, the flagship podcast of the true crime genre this season.
