Podimo celebrates International Women's Day and Girls in Science with a selection of podcasts led by women.

Feb 10, 2024

At Podimo, we join the celebration of International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11th. A crucial date to recognize the fundamental role that women and girls play in scientific and technological development. Through our podcasts, we highlight and give voice to the essential role of the women who are part of Podimo in the scientific field, promoting gender equality in the scientific community.

This significant day has become a reminder of the importance of recognizing and supporting the presence of women in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). It also points out the challenges that still persist in achieving gender equality in these STEM areas and promotes concrete actions to inspire and empower the new generations of female scientists.

At Podimo, we consider the importance of offering an inclusive space that reflects the richness of perspectives and knowledge in society. Having women scientists as creators brings unique value that undoubtedly enriches the podcasting landscape and contributes to a more complete and representative dialogue, reaching diversity and demonstrating that we have a catalog for all audiences and tastes.

In relation to this date, we present a series of exclusive podcasts led by women, who excel in various scientific disciplines:

You in sciences and I in humanities - La Hiperactina and Linguriosa

Sandra Ortonobés, La Hiperactina, biomedical and science communicator; and Elena Herraiz, Linguriosa, linguistic communicator; talk about a everyday topic with personal experiences and anecdotes, while answering interesting and curious questions that we have all asked ourselves at some point from the perspective of each discipline: sciences and humanities. A Petri dish in which the words “humor” and “communication” mix in a conversation between two friends. All the questions we probably have questioned ourselves are now finally answered thanks to Hiperactina and Linguriosa, who come to explain to us why love is related to the heart and reason with the brain in the first episode of ‘You in sciences and I in humanities’.

Hidden Planet - Mar Gómez

Mar Gómez, PhD in physics, meteorologist at tiempo.es and science communicator, will blow your mind as you discover the most fascinating aspects of our planet and the Universe, in 'Hidden Planet'. Did you know that there is a Bermuda triangle in space? That Frankenstein is related to a volcanic eruption? Or that there was once a solar storm so powerful that northern lights were seen in the Caribbean?

From Pure Bred - Lucía Almagro

Lucía Almagro, science communicator and biotechnologist, presents ‘From Pure Bred’, the podcast where we will talk about how our body works, or the dangers that a rubber duck hides, among many other topics, with great science communicators like Alfredo Corell or QuantumFracture. We will do it differently, so that you can understand and enjoy science. We will also talk about science of Spain to let you know what our scientists are doing, because here science is from pure bred.

One Human per Person - Tamara Pazos

'One Human per Person' is a space to get to know the human species better. A podcast presented by Tamara Pazos, biologist specializing in cognitive neuroscience and science communicator. In each episode, a socially relevant subject is addressed in three sections: evolution, biology, and neuroscience.

In addition to highlighting the valuable contributions of women scientists as creators on our platform, we also feature other podcasts that address various scientific themes with varied content for all lovers of knowledge.

Mental Sketch - María Gómez (@merigopsico)

María Gómez is a young psychologist who has oriented her career to communicate through social media. From Mental Sketch, María will help you understand our behavior by analyzing the most current topics from a psychological point of view. Always taking into account the context and relating it to a movie or series. To have many interesting facts to make you intrigued. And as I always say, curiosity didn’t kill the cat! Curiosity drives you to learn more and know ourselves better, so hit play!

Science or Evidence? - Eva Rojas and David Callejo

Eva Rojas, journalist and half of 'Science or Evidence?', along with anesthesiologist, pediatrician, and social media communicator David Callejo, respond to medical, sexual, and even mystical inquiries and doubts. Science or Evidence? A space to talk about health without taboos and solve doubts from the “blessed” anonymity that the internet provides. David Callejo will provide the scientific basis and the latest advances on the subject in question, and Eva Rojas will try to provide a bit of everyday life to help us understand it all (or not).
